The encouraging side is that a more cautious market can reward prepared buyers. If you know your limits, understand your loan options and have documentation ready, you may be in a stronger position than buyers who rely on rough estimates. Mortgage stress headlines are a warning sign, but they can also be a useful planning prompt: buy with a buffer, not just an approval.
